We visit the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood, one of the most powerful constructions in Russian Orthodox Christian architecture; an absolutely enthralling must-see. Besides, this church is the real reason behind the USSR fall! Have you ever wondered why the USSR decided to get rid of the old Soviet model and move to democracy, freedom and human rights, like all of a sudden? There are many rumored reasons behind this big move. However, we will now disclose the real one - that's all about this church!
Lunch will be in a local bistro, “stolovaya” where you can try traditional Russian food. We will take a short walk to see the city’s iconic landmark: Isaac Cathedral and Kazan Cathedral, and go further out to explore the rivers and channels, bridges and streets of this stunning imperial capital.
We devote this second half of the day to Faberge Museum and visit the unique Faberge Eggs Collection - St. Petersburg’s first Fabergé Museum, a must see, has opened at the Shuvalov Palace on the Fontanka Canal, close to the Imperial Anichkov Palace and just a short block from Nevsky Prospect. The palace houses the celebrated Fabergé collection of the Link of Times Foundation owned by Russian Entrepreneur Viktor Vekselberg, which, with its over 1500 choice pieces, is one of the richest, if not the most, in the whole world.
