In the morning, your driver will pick you up at your hotel to Vladimir (subject to traffic jams situation, we might use express train from Moscow to Vladimir) to see the Assumption cathedral (famous for Andrey Rublev frescoes), St Demetrius cathedral (outside only), Golden gates and learn the old history of Vladimir, once the capital of Russia.
After lunch in a local resuatrant, serving traditional Russian meals, we drive 30 km to one of the oldest Russian towns,Suzdal. Here we shall try diffeent tastes of the famous local drink “medovukha”.
Evening free at leisure. Suzdal is like a museum under the open sky, its medieval monuments can tell you its old story.
If you do go to Russia for New Year, you’ll get to have Christmas twice. Russian’s celebrate their Orthodox Christmas on January 7th, which means you pretty much have a whole two weeks to get over the first Christmas and get into the second.
Overnight in Suzdal in a cozy local boutique hotel.
Russian Christmas has no official public ceremonies, every town, hotel and even a museum runs own program which is of course kept in a secret from competing rivals. We’ll get to find out what Suzdal has on stake this year!
