The day begins with a cruise along the White Sea to the Solovetsky Islands on board a motor ship. The Solovetsky Islands is the largest archipelago in the White Sea, inhabited by people since ancient times. The trip to Bolshoy Solovetsky Island will take about 2 - 2.5 hours. In case of good weather, there is a chance to see local marine species – beluga whales and seals. Sometimes they can even swim close to a boat!

Upon arrival at Bolshoi Solovetsky Island, we will drive to Sekirnaya Gora - the highest point of the archipelago, where the Holy Ascension Skete is located. You will listen to the legends of the founding of the skete on the mountain, the peculiarities of the local monastic life and also learn about the tragedies that took place in this place. At the time of the Solovki special camp, a punishment cell, where many people died, was located there. At the top of the mountain, you will visit the unique Church of the Ascension of the Lord, which is also a lighthouse, that is not surprising due to the beautiful views of the White Sea that can be seen from the top of the hill.

From the observation deck of the mountain, you can also see another skete located in the north of the island - Savvatievsky, where you will go after visiting Sekirnaya Gora. Savvatievsky is one of the first sketes of the monastery, founded on the site of an ancient chapel in the 19th century. According to the legend, the skete was built on the place where the founders of the Solovetsky Monastery stayed during their first wintering on the island. The tragic history of the island did not pass by the Savvatievsky skete, where political prisoners were kept during the existence of the Solovki special camp.

After the tour, proceed to your hotel and check-in.

Later today go to the pier of the island, where a boat will await you. We will sail to Beluzhiy Cape, where, perhaps, the main highlight of the trip is awaiting - the opportunity to personally observe one of the most amazing sea creatures – beluga whales, also known as white whales. Cape Beluzhiy is the exact place to which beluga-whales come during the period between June 15 to August 15 to raise their offspring. Whale watching takes place at a distance of 100 meters, but it happens that whales themselves decide to come closer to a boat!

Return to the village of Solovetsky.
