Kiev panoramic city tour

“And Oleg sat down, ruling, in Kiev, and Oleg said: ‘Let it be a mother of Russian cities’”.

This is how the oldest Slavic chronicle, The Tale of Past Years, described how Prince Oleg, one of the first rulers of ancient Rus’, made the decision to designate Kiev as the capital city of the recently established state of Eastern Slavic tribes in the late 9th century.

Oleg came from the north, from ancient Novgorod town (not far from the modern St Petersburg), where the Eastern Slavs’ built their fiest state. Having conquered Kiev, Oleg united the two political centers into a state that was later called Rus’. Here is where the name Rus(s)kie came from. Now, we call them Russians. So, as everything in complicated Russian history, it is a very uncertain question. Who are actulally the "real" Russians? Those who are now in Kiev and call them Ukrainians or those who are in Moscow?

Let's find out!

Take off for a guided sightseeing tour around Kiev and see all the main sights of one of the oldest European capitals. You will see Starokievsky mountain, from where the "Russian Land" came from, famous Golden Gate, take photographs of the domes of St. Sophia, St. Michael and St. Vladimir. You will enjoy the splendour of St. Andrew's Church and you will admire the cosy architecture of the city, many centuries standing on the mighty Dnepr River.
