Kathryn Roston, Canada, May 2024: Trip to Russia

This was my second trip to Russia using Discovery Russia. I was definitely not disappointed. I sent a list of places in Moscow, St-Petersburg and Veliky Novgorod that I wanted to see, mostly having to do with The Great Patriotic War and the Cold War to Lina at Discovery Russia and all the tour arrangements were made perfectly. Special thanks to Lina and Ella who arranged for me to use taxis to most sites. Due to a handicap that I have, this made my tour a lot easier physically and allowed me to save my energy for walking around the sites I saw. THANK YOU! My tour guides were the same as last year, which made my trip more fun and interesting since they already knew my interests. Liza, Alexandra and Yuriy were all, once again, FANTASTIC! They answered my many questions and shared their unique knowledge of their cities in detail and with a love of their cities. Thank you Irene for your help while I was in Russia! It’s one of the safest and hospitable countries on the planet. Despite the politics between governments, if you have ever thought about visiting Russia, GO.

H. SPRINGER, AUSTRALIA: FAB HOLIDAYS IN MOSCOW AND ST PETERSBURG

The 10 days spent in Moscow and St Petersburg were an enjoyable and enriching experience. We appreciate the relationship we had with Discovery Russia, the preparation our manager, Jenny, provided was excellent and the practical hints were great. We were grateful for the assistance and guidance with obtaining our visas, the suggestions about clothing, etc. Our hotel in St Petersburg was conveniently located in the city, we also were able to get to the subway to other parts of the city and just wandered around.It provided an opportunity to just “be” in the city, in Russia. We visited all the city highlights and had our entrance tickets organized in advance which saved lots of valuable time. Everything about Moscow, the hotel (as a courtesy from Discovery Russia, we've been upgraded to 5* hotel free of charge and that had come a pleasant surprise), the guided tour was great and the city was stunning with its winter Christmas decoration. We visited The Bolshoi ballet and that was brilliant. When our guided tour ended, the guide, Tanya, helped us negotiate the theatre complex because we would not have known where to go to pick up the tickets which we bought online at home. Not sure how we would have managed without her!
