➤ Visiting Taltsy Open Air Siberian Museum
Visit Taltsy museum.
We make a stop at the Taltsy Open-Air Siberian Museum, located 20 kilometers from Listvyanka. This museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Siberian history, with an impressive collection of wooden buildings that were relocated from various parts of the region. The museum's exhibition includes 40 landmarked buildings and around 8,000 artifacts dating back to the 17th-19th centuries.
The museum is designed to resemble an ancient Siberian village, with long streets lined with wooden houses, water mills, and even a small schoolhouse. The village of Taltsy itself was once situated here, but with the construction of the Ust-Ilimskaya hydroelectric power station, part of the village was at risk of being submerged. In response, the authorities preserved the unique village by turning it into a museum. Visitors can explore this living history of Siberian architecture and culture.
