Blue lakes are a system of three mountain lakes located at different heights in a glacial basin. Located just 38 km by car from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and 15 km on foot along the forest trail, this place got its name due to an interesting optical phenomenon: the sun's rays are reflected from the purest water and ice at the bottom of the lake in such a way that people standing on the shore see the water in bright blue or even purple.
