Gorodets - neat little town, famous for its distinct style of folk art. At the time of the schism in the Russian Orthodox Church (1660), Gorodets became home to a population of Old Believers seeking religious sanctuary. They became skilful craftsmen, artists and wealthy tradesmen. Gorodets is the oldest city in Nizhny Novgorod region on the Northern shore of the Volga river, 60 kilometers from Nizhny Novgorod. The town is small, its population of slightly more than 30 thousand people, but it is very popular with tourists.

With its rich artistic heritage and architecture of the Crusader deservedly received the unofficial nickname of "little Kitezh". Besides the fact that there is a lot of monuments of architecture and history, the city has a whole Museum quarter. Quiet streets abound in well-preserved stone houses merchant buildings and wooden houses decorated with carving. We shall visit museum of Pryaniki, museum of Samovar and have Russian tea ceremony.
